With 15 years of medical practice under its belt, Sarpy County OB–GYN is now home to a second venture: SkynDeep Med Spa, HydraFacial MD Procedures in Papillion is focused on making women feel good about themselves.

Dr. Kay Thatcher, who owns Sarpy County OB–GYN with her husband Dr. Sean McFadden, said that for years women have asked her for recommendations on skin care, makeup and more while on visits to the practice.

“Many times women treat the OB-GYN as their primary care doctor,” she said.

Patients trust in her and the familiar comfort of the office led Thatcher to realize that next step and branch into skin care, an area that has always interested her.

“When I was growing up facials were seen as posh, extravagant, a luxury,” she said. “A lot of damage was done to skin in the process. Your skin is the largest organ of the body. It’s a part of your body that everyone sees, including you. It’s not necessarily about vanity. It’s about making people feel good about themselves.”

Thatcher got the ball rolling late last year, hiring esthitician Carlee Derby to kick things off in February.

“It’s important to know what type of products are good for your skin,” Derby said. “I’m just really excited to get people in and work with everyone.”

SkynDeep aims to provide that “preventative maintenance,” as is so similarly done for women through the OB-GYN, for the skin. Services include a number of facials and other services and products focused on reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and more. The med spa also offers waxing services and laser hair removal.

“My intent is to help people feel good about themselves,” Thatcher said. “The idea is to give quality care and quality services to the community.”

SkynDeep Med Spa is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and by appointment only on Saturday.
